Faddil Al Azzawi (b. 1940) is an Iraqi poet, novelist and literary critic. His works combine elements of prose and poetry together. He is a widely respected poet and literary figure who was jailed in 1963 by the Iraqi government. He now lives in Germany after going in exile. He believes that poetry separates falsehood from truth and the work of the poet is to break the mould. Some of his poems are translated here in Hindi.
